Jenny McGown is thankful to serve as the Chief Learning Officer in Klein ISD. She gets up every morning excited about creating thoughtful and innovative ways to reimagine learning, cultivate talent, and build community in order to transform the world! Jenny considers it an awesome privilege to enter into students’ stories and to witness our hopeful, ambitious “promise to purpose” vision positively impacting and changing lives for future generations. She is relentless and passionate in her pursuit of high levels of learning for all and is overjoyed to work in community to make “promise to purpose” a reality for every student in Klein ISD! Jenny began her career in education in Uzbekistan, where her first students (mostly 15-year-old girls who were attending school for the first time!) captured her heart with their resilience and tenacious desire to learn. She returned to the States to teach English at Klein Collins High School and has since served as an administrator at both the elementary and secondary level. Jenny was the founding principal of Zwink Elementary and led the campus to national recognition as a Model Professional Learning Community School and a State and National School of Character. Prior to serving as the Chief Learning Officer, she was the executive director for student performance, supporting elementary and secondary campuses in the work of school improvement and leadership development. She attended Texas A&M University as a Dwight D. Eisenhower Scholar and received her Master’s and Doctorate in Education from Sam Houston State University. This year, Jenny was recognized as one of the top 40 professionals under 40 in the greater Houston area by the Houston Business Journal. Outside of professional life, Jenny enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, Brian, and awesome children, Joshua (9) and Mary Claire (6). She and Brian are deeply involved in the work of Love 146, an international human rights organization committed to ending child trafficking. Jenny is an avid runner, reader and learner, having completed several marathons and devouring at least one new book a week! Originally from Boston and the daughter of an Australian father and a British mother, she loves to travel and explore.
